Thanks to a generous grant from St. John the Divine, this Good Grief for School Professionals workshop will be offered free of charge to train school professionals to support grieving youth with confidence and compassion. This online workshop is for school professionals who are trained and experienced in providing social/emotional support to students. Through this training, school professionals will gain an understanding of children’s grief at different developmental stages, identify indicators of grief, and learn about current grief theory. Attendees will be provided with strategies and interactive activities to use to engage with students about grief and death and templates for creating student support plans.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe several indicators of grief as a full-body experience.
- Distinguish children’s understanding of death at different developmental stages.
- Identify helpful ways to support grieving children and teens in the school setting.
