The Memory Quilt Activity is a special tradition at Bo’s Place, offering participants a meaningful way to create a personal memorial honoring their loved one who died. Every adult and child is invited to design a fabric quilt square that reflects a memory they have of their person. The design might include their person’s favorite color, song, poem, or something special they did together.
The quilt pieces are sewn together to make a collage of each of the groups. The memory quilts are displayed throughout the building serving as a reminder that, much like the grieving process, individual experiences can come together to create comfort, connection and support.
That’s what the quilts represent at Bo’s Place – they are not only a memorial to those loved ones who have died, but also a testament to the resiliency of the human spirit and capacity of individuals to heal when they join together and tell their stories. That’s Bo’s Place.
If any quilters are interested in creating one of these memory quilts, please email volunteer@bosplace.org.
