On Sunday, June 21st, Bo’s Place welcomed the community for our 1st Annual Sundae Open House—a day filled not only with sweet treats, but with meaningful connection, comfort, and hope.
Families, individuals, and supporters came through our doors looking to learn, to find support, and to feel less alone in grief—and they were met with open hearts and a strong circle of care. We were especially grateful to be joined by three outstanding community partners: Wonders & Worries, Hope and Healing Center & Institute, and the Nick Finnegan Counseling Center. These organizations brought essential resources, compassionate guidance, and helped attendees take brave steps forward on their journey.
The day was made even more special by the presence of Bo’s Place founders, Larry and Lindy Neuhaus, whose vision and generosity created this space where healing can happen. We were also honored to welcome Jon Bumann, National Development Director of the National Alliance for Children’s Grief, who offered wisdom and encouragement from the broader landscape of grief support.
And we can’t forget the warmest welcome of all—from Skye, our new Chief Happiness Officer! In her first official appearance, Skye brought gentle joy and quiet companionship to children, families, and guests alike. With her soft fur and soulful eyes, she reminded us all that sometimes comfort doesn’t come in words, but in simply being there.
Throughout the day, people found what they needed—whether that was a moment of peace, a resource to take home, or the beginning of a conversation they didn’t know how to start. Some came in grief, some in solidarity, and all left knowing they are not alone.
If you missed this special day, know that Bo’s Place is always here. Whether you’re grieving the death of someone in your life, want to learn how to support others, or feel called to volunteer, our doors and hearts remain open.
Reach out. We’re here for you—ready to walk alongside you, every step of the way.
