Last month, Bo’s Place had the honor of hosting Camp Kangaroo—the first of what we hope will become a cherished annual tradition. In partnership with AccentCare, a leading hospice organization, we opened our entire building to welcome children ages 5 to 17 who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives.
For two meaningful days, Camp Kangaroo provided a space filled with connection, healing, and hope. AccentCare’s mission to support grieving children aligned seamlessly with Bo’s Place commitment to creating a safe, compassionate environment. Together, we fostered a weekend that was not only therapeutic, but also filled with joy and play.
Throughout the camp, the energy on campus was uplifting. Laughter echoed through the halls, tears were met with understanding, and bonds were formed that reminded us of the profound impact Bo’s Place has on every support group. One especially heartwarming moment came with the visit of therapy dogs, including our very own Skye. Their calming presence and loving snuggles offered comfort that only a furry friend could provide.
Camp Kangaroo was a powerful reminder: even in the face of grief, healing is possible when we come together with empathy, creativity, and love. We are proud to have been part of this special weekend and look forward to continuing this partnership in the years to come.
