More than 350 guests gathered on Saturday May 3 to view the most exciting 2 minutes in sports at the ninth annual Derby event Hats, Hearts & Horseshoes benefiting Bo’s Place. The Post Oak Hotel was the venue for the Derby watch party, with the attendees dressed in their Derby best. Chairs of this successful event, raising over $362,000 were Christina and David McAllen and Maddy and Patrick Moffitt.
David McAllen presented Carol Lee and Allen Lyons with the Champion of Hope Award. Carol Lee shared her grief journey from nearly 20 years ago when her husband died. Bo’s Place programs supported her and her young daughter, Annie.
Guests socialized, sipping traditional mint juleps, and sampled the variety of delicious bites. During the event, guests were entertained with silent and live auction bidding, a racing wall to pick the winner of the Derby, a roaming photo booth, and a bourbon pull.
Multiple screens allowed everyone to watch, cheer, and shout for their favorite as the horses left the gate for the race. Sovereignty pulled away to win the 2025 Kentucky Derby while guests stood cheering as the exciting race concluded.
Thank you to all who attended or supported this event!
