Gray Sullivan recently selected Bo’s Place to be the recipient of his Eagle Scout project. He was drawn to Bo’s Place because his mother, Christie Sullivan, is a member of the Bo’s Place Board of Directors.
After touring the property and surveying areas of opportunity for his project, he identified that he would like to refresh the Robin Bush Memorial Garden in the front yard space.
When outlining his goals, Gray wrote: “My project will benefit Bo’s Place by helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere as people walk in. The Robin Bush Memorial Garden is the first thing people walk by when entering Bo’s Place, and it has special significance, being the namesake for the annual Robin Bush Award. There are benches for people to sit and reflect across from this area, so it is important to make the space as beautiful as possible to be a nurturing space for those who are grieving. This area currently has borders that need to be restructured, and all of the flowers were lost in the freeze.”
To accomplish his goals, Gray recruited a team of his fellow Scouts to help. Together, they removed weeds from the area, laid soil, planted new plants, replaced the mulch, and fixed the border of the garden. At the end of the day, the entire area had a fresh and vibrant feel.
Gray had shared, “I hope that this will serve as a proper memorial to Robin Bush.” It certainly does, Gray. Thanks to you and your team for your hard work and thoughtful gift to Bo’s Place.
