Exactly one year ago, we began the journey of re-launching our website. After seeking input from the families we serve, colleagues in our field, our staff, volunteers, and many experts, we developed a solid vision of what we wanted to achieve: to provide an immediate resource for anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one.
And, we have done just that. From the visible “Contact us” buttons throughout the site that allow a user to request information at various touch points, to the plethora of support resources in the Resource Library, a visitor to our website will leave the site with grief and bereavement information and resources and the ability to reach out directly to Bo’s Place for additional support.
We also wanted to provide resources in Spanish for those in our community who are more comfortable in their native language and to enhance our Spanish-language programs that we continue to grow and foster. Our website now provides both program information and downloadable resources in Spanish.
Finally, we wanted to capture the “feel” of Bo’s Place. If you’ve been to Bo’s Place, you have experienced that sense of comfort and hope that the facility itself provides. Making a computer screen as welcoming as a quiet room with comfy chairs and the security and freedom to talk about the death of a loved one is no small task.
With that goal in mind, the amazing team at Primer Grey accomplished this. From the moment we partnered with them, they immersed themselves in learning everything they could about Bo’s Place. It’s clear they “get it” because they have helped us exceed our goals with this site. Thank you to Chris, Carra, Francois, and the many others at Primer Grey who turned our vision into a reality.
This website wouldn’t be possible without the generous financial support of Houston Endowment, who recognized that this was a transformational project that would enable Bo’s Place to expand access to grief resources for the bereaved in our community. On behalf of all of those grieving the death of a loved one, and all of those who are supporting a bereaved person, we thank you.
We’d love to share some of our favorite parts of the new website:
• Resource Library – Here, you can find a variety of helpful information, including age-appropriate book references, helpful websites, downloadable information, newsletters, and information about Bo’s Place including our most recent audit, 990 and annual report.
• Educational Handouts in English and Spanish – These handouts are designed to be downloaded and printed for easy access and distribution. The topics are helpful to both those grieving and those supporting someone grieving.
• Media Gallery – Our videos enable us to share the voices of our families and their experiences on their grief journeys, as well as the support they have received along the way. We are thrilled at the capacity of this website to be able to share so many stories in one place.
• Wish List/In-Kind Donations – We have synched our Wish List to Amazon so that people wishing to make an In-Kind donation may do so with a few easy clicks. We will keep the list updated with our most current needs so that the gifts we receive will be immediately used in upcoming programming.
And there is much, much more.
We would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the great Bo’s Place team working with Primer Grey to make sure we got everything just right. Bo’s Place Board of Directors member and Outreach Committee Chair, Debbie Gregg, led the website team with insight and direction. Cindy Kemble, a dedicated volunteer, provided unparalleled consulting and advising. Courtney Varner, our Project Lead and Communications Director, dedicated countless hours to this project, keeping the entire work team on task and ensuring we never lost sight of the original vision for the project. And, our “fearless leader,” Bo’s Place Executive Director, Mary Beth Staine, led with a passionate vision to help grieving families. Her unwavering leadership has made this happen.
So with much gratitude and excitement, we are pleased to introduce the transformational new bosplace.org.
